I Love This!

I saw this today and thought it was worth sharing. It rings true to where I was personally struggling so I hope it helps some one out here in Blogger world too.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

Monday's Work

Monday after Mass there were around 35 men (dad's of school children) who came to do a service project. It was to clear the under brush and weed the garden. They all work together as a team.

There was a group of us that also went down the road to another mission garden and picked up rocks from the field.We loaded them up in wheel barrows....

Then they put them in a pile. In the past (maybe this time too) they were used to fill in big wholes in the road.

More on Sunday

Sunday afternoon Bingo took Niki and I to the "source". What is the source? Well it is the natural spring that is capped off and supplies clean water for almost everyone in this area. I beleive it is a 8 mile line with several water stations in-between there and the mission.

This first picture is a path we drove down off of the main road to head in the right direction. We then parked the car and walked the rest of the way.

Along the way there was this big tree, in the middle there was a whole with this devicein it. It is a sugar cane extractor.....not sure if that is what they call it but that is what it does. You sit on it like a one ended teeter-totter, as you (kind of) bounce up and down as someone puts a piece of sugar cane between the two pieces and it presses it. There is a small canal along each side of the bottom part and the sugar runs down toward the end Bingo is on. There is a whole that the sugar then drips/runs out of and they collect it.

This was our treat at the source, a stick of sugar cane. YUMMY!

We then hiked back down while we ate our sugar cane.

This is the main road that takes us back to Kobanol. You can see the rain clouds in the distance. It is so beautiful up here.

Sunday Nov. 29th

Food for the Poor donated over 1,000 pair of shoes. Last week they stared distributing them to the school children. On Sunday people that were at Mass stayed to recieve a pair too. They all waited very patiently for their turn.

Niki and I both helped find the right size for each person. I think on Sunday alone they had passed out over 250 pair.

Candy!!! YUMMY!!

The pre-school CCD class at Sacred Heart of Jesus In Anna Ohio collected over 50 pounds of candy. Each child in the school recieved 2 pieces each. They started passing it out to the youngest to the oldest at the end of the school day as they filed out of the mission yard.

One girl in the back ground is checking out what piece she ma get. While this girl in the front is reaching for one that she spotted that she wanted. :)

Even the teachers recieved some candy after the children got thiers.

What a sweet way to end the end of a school day and week!

Block Making on the Mission Grounds

First they fill a mold with the cement mixture.

Then he picks it up and drops it to pack it down.
Next he packs it even tighter with a flat tool.

Making a flat surface.....He then fliped the mold upsaide down and removed the bottom piece that molded the bottom and the middle.

After that he removed the outer mold and put it back on the bottom part and carried it over and started the process all over again.

These blocks will set in the sun for 3 days drying, each day they will be watered so they do not dry to fast. After they are dry they will be used to build a wall for the back side of the depot. (Look at previous post where they were putting a cement floor in.)
